American football is not the same with rugby.

If you want to send the ball to a player wich is really far away, you kick it...

In american football? No ... you can't kick the ball.
In rugby. Yes ... but not all players on the field can kick the ball well, only no.10, 15, ...

In modern rugby, other players can kick the ball well: wings(11&14), centers (12&13) and scrum half (9).
